We are a grassroots, locally rooted company based in British Columbia, Canada.

EduRITA was initiated in 2020 by Zheng S. Sun, who completed a PhD in Statistics from Simon Fraser University and a master’s degree from University of Victoria. Together with his former student, Dillon Duncan, a University of the Fraser Valley alumnus, the project was launched with a clear mission: to support Open Educational Resources by providing a low-cost, modern, and easy-to-use online homework platform.

Built using the statistical programming language R and the web application framework Shiny, EduRITA is designed to be a practical and accessible tool that continues to evolve with the needs of today’s learning environment.

We believe in the value of open education as a way to expand access and opportunity. By reducing financial barriers for students, offering flexible and customizable tools for instructors, and supporting institutions in delivering high-quality, scalable learning experiences, EduRITA contributes to a more equitable, sustainable, and effective educational ecosystem.
